AFE-12 is a new impedance matching transformer which can present optimal loading for a broad range of moving coil cartridges. It utilises precision transformers manufactured by Lundahl in Sweden.

It offers 3 selectable loads via a switch. These are the internal impedances of the cartridges matched

Low 0.7 Ohms - 10 Ohms

Mid 11 Ohms - 30 Ohms

High  31 Ohms - 100 Ohms

The gain from the Low position is 26 dB. Instead of the more common tapped windings approach, AFE-12 uses 100% of the winding on both primary and secondary sides in all positions.The signal energy is preserved and transmitted very well.

The sturdy case also contains pure cotton damping material to minimise the effect of external vibration and stands on rubber isolating feet.
